| Farrell Flies To Muster Win Posted Sunday, 4 January 2009 by Ken Brown |
| Ryan Farrell turned on a memorable performance to snatch the Sprintcar Muster honours from Ken Sartori at the Perth Motorplex on January 3. Polesitter Sartori was briefly challenged by Northern Territory Champion Warrenne Ekins at the start of the 30-lap A Main. Then Ekins retired on lap 3 leaving Jamie Maiolo holding down second spot ahead of David Priolo, Farrell and current AHG Sprintcar Series titleholder Ben Ellement. David Ellement and Scott Reilly came together on lap 4, bringing on the caution lights. The action resumed with the leaders striking heavy traffic soon afterwards. Maiolo stuck his nose in front of Sartori, but the Kendrick Team drive was able to regain the front spot. Priolo was running strongly in third when he clipped the turn 2 fence, shed a front wheel and rolled the Budget Fork Lifts #8 onto its side. Twelve remained as Farrell shot by Maiolo for second, only to have the Myalup Missile come back strongly. But Farrell was not to be denied and he closed up on the race leader Sartori. Again traffic played its part a Farrell loomed up inside Sartori down the back straight. Only a handful of laps remained in the epic battle - with Farrell crossing the line ahead of the gallant Sartori, Luch Monte, Maiolo, Ben Ellement, Carl Dowling, Steven Ford, Shaun Bradford, Greg Hall and Mat Muir. The race was another barnburner with the current AHG Sprintcar Series top two pointscorers finishing in those same positions on the night. Next Saturday (January 10) sees round 9 of the AHG Sprintcar Series venture down south to the Margaret River Speedway for the very first time.
