And the first impression of James McFadden teaming up with the Monte Motorsport-owned Milwaukee W17 at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night is that this team is going to deliver the goods in 2016-17.
The professional outfit used round one of the AHG Sprintcar Series as a test for a big season ahead that will include racing all the big shows around the country.
McFadden, a former World Series Sprintcars and Australian Sprintcar champion, looked at home in the beautifully-presented red and white machine, taking a comfortable win from Brad Maiolo and Shaun Bradford on a very fast race track.
Earlier in the night he was second quickest in qualifying, pipped by Jason Kendrick by 0.090 of a second.
He then took a win and a third in the heats, setting up a front-row start for the 30-lap event with Kendrick.
From the green McFadden was never challenged, showing his class and experience to take a convincing win.
“It was good, the track was elbows up there and lapped cars were racing pretty hard there and I didn’t really know where to go,” McFadden said.
“The last few laps we kind of just eased off and I didn’t really know where we were.
“Hats off to the Milwaukee guys, our first night out and we have come out pretty decent, so it’s going to be a real exciting year.
“We got real comfortable real quick so hats off to those cars for giving me a good car.
“Yeah I am really excited for the year to come.”
Round 2 of the AHG Sprintcar Series will be held at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday, November 5 - the Magic Man 34.
