BEN Ellement is the new leader in the 2016-17 AHG Sprintcar Series.
He finished fifth in the fourth round of the series at the Perth Motorplex last Saturday night – the 40-lap Scardifields Smash Repairs King of Wings.
Importantly Ellement played his Joker card for the season – one of five drivers to do so on the night – along with Andrew and David Priolo, James Inglis and Shaun Bradford.
The move paid off for Inglis who was seventh and after doubling his points for the round, he is now third overall.
Mitchell Wormall, who played his Joker the previous weekend in Bunbury and who was eighth on Saturday night, is second overall.
Andrew Priolo managed ninth in the main event and is now fourth with Jason Kendrick, who crashed out on lap 23, rounding out the top five.
Round 5 of the series – the WA Sprintcar Championship – will be held at the Perth Motorplex on December 10.
