Maiolos to maul grand final rivals

THE Maiolo brothers will be front and centre when the final night of sprintcar racing is held at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday night.

Both are locked into the Merger Contracting Gold Cup Grand Final that will include two feature races.

Brad heads into the show as the 2016-17 AHG Sprintcar Championship after he wrapped up back-to-back championships in Bunbury on March 4.

He won the series from Jason Kendrick, Ben Ellement, James Inglis and Mitchell Wormall.

Jamie, a former AHG Series champion was third in the first round of the AHG Easy As 123 Triple Crown that was held at Bunbury the following night - March 5.

On that occasion James McFadden won the feature race from Brooke Tatnell, followed by Jamie who finished ahead of Steven Lines, Jason Kendrick, Jason Pryde, Robbie Farr, Luke Dillon, James Inglis and Michael Keen. With the first two not racing here this weekend the older of the two Maiolos is in the box seat to win the mini-series if he posts good results in Saturday night’s twin feature showdown.

The first feature will be over 20 laps with the second over 30 laps.

Apart from sprintcars the show will also include the Quest Apartment Late Models, Pool Shop Group Speedcars, Formula 500s, Harris Engines Wingless Sprints and around 50 cars in the Carbusters Demo Derby Grand Final.
