Restructure for SEG

AS the Sprintcar Entrants Group gears up for a new season of racing that gets underway in October, work continues behind the scenes to continue to develop the sport.

One of the big changes has been the way the group is structured.

It is now changed to be a not-for-profit organisation and the official name is the Australian Speedway Association, trading as the Sprintcar Entrants Group.

The reason for the change?

The board believes it will provide a lot of advantages, with one key one being it will be eligible for government funding.

Work will now continue behind the scenes to see what government funding can be channelled into WA sprintcar racing.

The 2017-18 AHG Sprintcar Series will kick off at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday, October 28, as part of the Motorplex's PowerPALOOZA1 - a combined Speedway, Drag Racing and Burnout show.

There will be many highlights throughout the season, including the John Day Classic/WA Sprintcar Championship, the four-night USA v WA Sprintcar Speedweek that will be held at the Motorplex and Quit Bunbury Speedway venues and WA rounds of World Series Sprintcars that will be incorporated into the AHG Series.

This year that will see the domestic series return to Albany in February.

The series will wrap up in Bunbury on the first night of the Krikke Boys Shootout in March and will be followed by the AHG Easy As 123 Triple Crown, to be determined at both Bunbury and Motorplex tracks.

Stay tuned for more updates soon on the exciting new season ahead.
