JASON Kendrick became the first multiple feature race winner of the season when he claimed the Kwinana Cup at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday night.

Kendrick won the fifth round of the Maddington Toyota Sprintcar Series from Daniel Harding and Ben Ellement, with a car that sounded more like a tractor for much of the 30-lap journey.

Despite a hole developing in the one of the right header pipes early in the feature, Kendrick was able to take the win - on the back of the win he claimed at Bunbury a couple of weeks ago.

He started the night in the best possible fashion, taking the Victory 1 Performance Quick Time with a 14.421 second lap, bettering that of Jason Pryde with a 14.699, Callum Williamson 14.714, Harding 14.793 and Kris Coyle 14.797.

Kendrick then started off the front row to win his first heat and then claimed a third in the next outing after starting from P8.

The feature race was just getting underway when Aldo De Paoli flipped the W96 in turn one, bringing on the red lights.

Ellement, who started on the front row with Kendrick, slipped into second while Williamson, who was coming out of P3, was in third.

With just six laps in the book Kendrick was into traffic and a few laps later started to sound a lot louder, thanks to the hole developing in one of the header pipes.

Pryde spun around on the back straight on lap nine, forcing another restart and it was still Kendrick from Ellement and Williamson, with Ben Van Ryt, who started out of P7, looking strong in fourth.

Van Ryt powered his way up to second on the restart with Williamson was trading blows with Ellement for third spot.

Jamie Oldfield, who was out of P6, was into fourth soon afterwards before the red lights came on again, this time for Coyle who hit the fence and flipped when coming out of P2.

As the field regrouped at the midrace point, Pryde headed infield with a broken throttle linkage.

On the next restart Williamson was pushing had and got his way back into third again just as Jamie Oldfield ran out of racing room when coming out of turn four, hitting the fence and damaging the front end of the W51.

On lap 19 Williamson got by Van Ryt for second and set his sights on Kendrick out in front.

He hit the lead, momentarily on lap 22 and on the next lap he went too hard in pits fence, crashing out.

Harding got by Ellement for third on lap 24 and then took over second from Van Ryt in the dying stages.

In the race to the checkers Van Ryt’s W75 slowed up, running out of fuel, seeing him cross the line in fourth behind Ellement who was in a 360ci powered car for the night.

Later on Van Ryt weighed in light and was disqualified.

Andrew Priolo continued his usual run of coming through the pack in feature races, converting a P10 start into fourth which was a solid recovery after he stumbled in qualifying to the 13th.

Fifth went to Taylor Milling who started from P11, with sixth to Mitchell Wormall (from P9), AJ Nash, Tom Callaghan, Jaydee Dack and Trevor Jolly.

Five drivers - Priolo, Wormall, Callaghan, Jolly and Van Ryt played their Jokers on the night to double their feature race points.

The move paid off best for Priolo after he took fourth, while Wormall’s sixth now sees him second in the championship on 960, ahead of Pryde on 948, Coyle 948 and Priolo 856.

Harding was the weekly winner of the Hoosier right rear tyre draw.

After five consecutive weeks, the series had a break before resuming with the WA Sprintcar Championship to be held at the Perth Motorplex on Saturday, December 7.
