Big guns return for Magic Man

A HANDFUL of drivers will be making their first appearance for the season when round two of the 2016-17 AHG Sprintcar Series is contested at the Perth Motorplex next Saturday night.

The event is the Magic Man 34 – paying tribute to former Speedcar and Sprintcar great Michael Figliomeni.

This will actually be the 10th and final time the event is run and no doubt will be an emotional one for all concerned.

Once again the feature race will be contested over 34 laps.

David Priolo is one of the drivers who missed the first round and will be unveiling his return to a black livery at this show.

He is a former winner of the Magic Man 34 and one of the sentimental favourites.

Trent Pigdon also returns – the last time he raced was at the Gold Cup Grand Final at the Motorplex in April – an event he won in the Diamond Bay Motorsports W26 – the same team he is racing for this week.

Cameron Gessner is back in the W41 and will be showcasing the new-look JAK Civil team.

Gessner is always a threat when he is on the track and another favourite for the win.

Callum Williamson will be making the long haul from Geraldton for the show – the first race in a limited schedule for the team this season.

Aldo De Paoli, who has been mixing it up on both the 360 and 410 class, also contests his first meeting of the season in the W96.

Brad Maiolo, the defending AHG Sprintcars Champion, finished second in round one to James McFadden and is looking to maintain his momentum.

Lee Nash, Jason Kendrick and Jamie Maiolo, who all posted DNFs in the first round, will be looking to make amends.

Nominations Lee Nash, David Priolo, Andrew Priolo, Trent Pigdon, Jamie Landrigan, Cameron Gessner, Ben Ellement, Lee Nash, Shaun Bradford, Callum Williamson, Bradley Maiolo, Scott Chatwin, James Inglis, Kye Scroop, Jason Kendrick, Aldo De Paoli, Mitchell Wormall and Jamie Maiolo.
