Maiolo holds down lead - just!

DESPITE limping home in sixth placed and being uncharacteristically lapped by the leaders Brad Maiolo is still leading the AHG Sprintcar Series.

The defending series champion’s decision to stay on the track paid dividends, banking valuable points after being second in the first feature race three weeks earlier.

Ben Ellement, who was seventh in round one, is second after mounting a massive comeback on Saturday night.

He had engine dramas in the heat races and then started at the rear of the field but raced through, avoiding carnage in front of him, to finish third overall.

Jason Kendrick’s win on Saturday night helped his points account after a DNF in the season opener and he is now third overall.

Round three of the series will be held at Quit Bunbury Speedway on November 19 – the Wrek King Sprintcar Grand Slam.
