AHG Series points update

THE 2017-18 AHG Sprintcar Series championship battle is set to go down to the wire.

Two rounds will be contested at the Perth Motorplex this Saturday and Sunday nights in the combined show with World Series Sprintcars Championship.

The series will then conclude on the first night of the Krikke Boys Shootout at Quit Bunbury Speedway the following Saturday night.

Just 12 points separates new points leader Jason Kendrick and two-time defending series champion Brad Maiolo after two rounds were held last weekend - at Albany Speedway and Bunbury.

The points for the Albany round were taken after the completion of the first round of heats that every driver contested - this reflects the decision to reward the WA drivers who made the effort to attend the Albany round.

Normal points applied to the Saturday round in Bunbury.

Kendrick has 2064 points to Maiolo's 2052 - this equates to only six places difference in a feature race - unless one of them takes a win - with the gap from first to second being four points instead of the regular two used for the rest of the points allocations.

With three rounds remaining this means it's game on and the championship is well and truly alive.

Jamie Maiolo is on 2002 points, moving up to third place and pushing series rookie Jamie Oldfield back to fourth on 1916.

Andrew Priolo on 1744, another series rookie in AJ Nash on 1666, Scott Chatwin 1366, Jason Pryde 1140, Kye Scroop 1110 and Daniel Harding 1064 rouind out the top 10.
