2009/2010 SPRINTCAR SEG – SAWA
SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS
PERTH MOTORPLEX - STARTING POSITIONS and RACE LAPS
After a full review of last season’s event formats,
it has been agreed that Sprintcar formats for the
new season will be as listed for Sprintcar racing at
the Perth Motorplex:
Please Note: Qualifying event Format information on
The WA Sprintcar Championship, World Series
Sprintcars and Mike Nanovich Sprintcar King of Wings
will be sent out prior to the events.
FORMAT 1:
Format 1 feature’s 2 seed groups when qualifying for
the feature race and includes time trial qualifying
run in conjunction with Hot Laps.
SEEDINGS:
The format basically splits the seeds into 2 halves
(a top half pool and a bottom half pool). It is
important to note that whatever the class car counts
are, that the seeding is always split 50% or in the
case of an uneven number like 13 cars, then as close
as possible to a 50% split. Note: Your points after
the qualifying races will give you the event points
to determine your start position amongst your seed
pool.
QUALIFYING – DURING HOT LAPS:
Qualifying in seeded groups of between 3 and 5 laps
in duration with the best lap taken as the quick
time from within these laps. The seeded groups will
be done via computer draw prior to the event and
printed in race program. It is envisaged that a
minimum of 10 cars will be on the track at a time.
Heat Races:
Each driver will participate in two heat races each
with starting positions listed below.
Feature Race:
The Sprintcar A Main Feature Race starting positions
are as follows:
The first 7 positions are reserved for the highest
point scorers of the bottom seed group after the
qualifying heats.
Position number 8 is the starting position for the
highest point scorer from the top seed group. The
remaining feature race starting positions are open
to both the bottom and the top seed groups in order
of their qualifying heat race points – up to
position 20.
Qualifying Races:
TT/Qualifying - The Qualifying draw will be done in
Perth Motorplex office in the week prior to event.
Heat 1, 10 Laps – Quick time will start rear of
field; (Late entries will start rear of field for
qualifying heats)
Heat 2, 10 Laps – Quick time will start rear of
field; – with the rows crossed over;
What if there is a draw on points?
The highest finisher in the last race will get the
priority starting position.
After the heats are complete the Top 20 point
scorers will qualify directly into A Main
B Main, 10 laps The B Main Last Chance qualifier
race will be run subject to time constraints for
drivers who have failed to qualify after the
qualifying races. Starting in order of highest
points to the pole position.
The first four place finishers will transfer
(qualify) into the A Main Feature Race: A Main, 25
Laps – Maximum feature race starting field size will
be 24 cars.
Bottom Seed group: Highest point scorer in the
bottom seed group will start the main in qualifying
order, from pole position onwards = p1 to p7.
Top Seed group: Highest point scorer from the top
seed group will start from position 8.
Remaining feature race starting positions are open
to both the top and bottom seed groups.
Non-qualifiers may be invited to be reserves on
standby for the feature race.
FORMAT 2: Format 2 includes items listed in format 1
and includes seed groups with the only change being
when the time trial qualifying is not possible, the
heat races will be determined by a computer draw.

A Main - 150, 146, 144, 142, 140, 138, 136, 134,

112, 110, 108, 106, 104, 102.
Please Note:
Drivers who start but do not finish the A Main
receive 100 points.
Drivers who did not start the A Main receive receive
50 points.
