Maiolo seals AHG championship

BRAD Maiolo, Jamie Maiolo and Jason Kendrick are the top three drivers in the 2015-16 AHG Sprintcar Series Championship that wrapped up at the Perth Motorplex last Saturday night.

Brad was the class act all year and is a deserving winner of his maiden championship, edging out Jamie who is the most successful driver in the series history.

All he had to do to win the series was to roll the car out for the Washpod Westernapolis Grand Final feature race but rather than just cruise and collect points, he pushed hard to finish a very strong fourth.

“I am very happy to get a good result for our team and everyone involved , all our sponsors and all our crew that is there every week, along with mum and dad and my wife,” Brad said on the podium.

“I can’t thank them all enough to let me do what I love, thanks a lot.”

“I am happy to still run fourth but would have been good to be on the podium, but yeah, it is what it is and we had some good drivers here and that’s the best we could do.”

Brad was quick to acknowledge his crew, headed up by Brendan Telfer.

“He gives me a good car every night , I can’t thank him enough, he works very hard during the week and puts in a lot of hours , so yeah can’t thank him enough and also Kyran, Bailey and Glen for giving me a hand on the nights.”

His attention turns to the AHG123 Four Crown mini-series that will kick off at the Perth Motorplex on Easter Saturday.

“I am looking forward to these last four rounds and see if we can’t take that out as well.”

“In a short series like that you have got to finish every one and finish strongly in everyone to take that out, so we will do our best.”
